About God's Knot
God's Knot was founded in 2006 by Will and Mandi Welbes; newly weds with a desire to provide
Christians with wedding resources online. While planning our own wedding, we realized that
there were an abundance of wedding resources on the internet, but not very many focused on Christian
weddings and Christian marriage. We have designed this site to collect and organize information
related to a Christian wedding ceremony. We believe that a wedding is much more than a day of celebration.
As scripture teaches us, it is a miraculous union between God, husband and wife, made possible by our salvation through
Christ.
While planning our own wedding ceremony, we heard about others incorporating
"The Cord of Three Strands" into their ceremony. It was explained as a symbolic part of the
ceremony where the wife braids together three strands of differing colors to symbolize the union of God,
husband and wife – not just tying the knot, but rather God’s knot! In our attempt to gather all of the
supplies we needed to incorporate the Cord of Three Strands into our ceremony, we found it very difficult
to put together. After a few cups of Starbucks, we came up with an idea to create the Cord of Three Strands
to help other couples incorporate this symbolism into their ceremony. Recognizing a need for more information
than just the Cord of Three Strands, we developed a concept of an online resource for Christians to use when
planning their wedding ceremony. In a matter of months, we took the idea from concept into reality and
founded Gods Knot.com.
